WELCOME

Since Vatican II, the role of the cantor as a leader of sung prayer and psalmist has become increasingly important in Catholic liturgy. To be effective ministers, cantors need to be prepared, educated and encouraged. The School of Cantor Training exists to educate, uplift, train and support cantors in their vital ministry.

The School of Cantor Training was formed in 2001 to provide assistance in forming a solid foundation for the role of the cantor in liturgy, through vocal technique and liturgical awareness.

We offer many types of courses, from a series of classes to one-time workshops aimed at improving the skill, confidence and ability of the cantors who participate.

In each course, cantors study voice, liturgy and putting it together in practice.

"I'm a beginning vocalist with some musical knowledge. I'd like to be a cantor for my church!"

"I sing in our choir and tried canting a few times. I was nervous, but with help and encouragement I'm sure I can do it."

"I've been an active cantor for many years, but I seem to have reached a plateau. I'd like to further develop my abilities."

If any of those statements sound familiar, the School of Cantor Training was designed for you!
