In addition to our core instructors, other knowledgeable instructors are called upon when needed to augment our experience, perspective and availability (such as Dr. Brandon Spence; Mary Cusack; Dr. Jerzy "George" Bugaj).
Carol McAndrew (formerly Carol Sahakian Grady) graduated from the University of Michigan with degrees in Music Education (B.M.) and Vocal Performance (M.M.). There was further study at the Banff School of Fine Arts, a season with the Ohio Light Opera, gigs in Chicago and then a move to Grand Rapids, MI and then to Holland, on beautiful Lake Michigan. Carol has a passion for the use and pedagogy of the voice, along with The Alexander Technique and the Andover Educators (a group of dedicated teachers bettering the techniques of singers and instrumentalists everywhere). She also helped found the School of Cantor Training in the Grand Rapids Diocese, as well as teaches cantors all around the country for the National Association of Pastoral Musicians [NPM]. Carol works full-time as the Director of Music at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Holland, MI. She has 3 children of her own, 2 step-children and a new husband, Bill.

Michelle Ogren is Director of the Office for Worship for the Diocese of Grand Rapids. The Office for Worship supports liturgical formation and good liturgy throughout the diocese. Prior to taking her current position, Michelle served as a Pastoral Musician and Director of Music for over 25 years. She was Director of Music at St. Alphonsus Parish (Grand Rapids) and the Dominican Chapel/Marywood, as well as serving as music minister in parishes throughout the diocese. Michelle is a past director of the Grand Rapids Chapter of the National Association of Pastoral Musicians [NPM] and currently serves on the national board of NPM. While at Dominican Chapel, as part of the pastoral team, she facilitated programs in liturgy and music for Dominican Center programs. Michelle continues to be a frequent clinician in the areas of liturgy and music and teaches with the School of Cantor Training. She is a wife and mother of four delightful young adults. She is a graduate of Aquinas College and has done graduate work at Western Michigan University.

 Barbara Witham McCargar has been teaching Voice on the campus of Aquinas College since 1987 and is now an Associate Professor of Music as well as Director of Vocal Activities and Chair of the Music Department. Barbara is an experienced vocal soloist in areas including art song, musical theater, opera, symphony pops concerts, oratorio societies and the recording studio.
In the Diocese of Grand Rapids, Barbara is an instructor with the School for Cantor Training, Grand Rapids Chapter Director of the National Association of Pastoral Musicians [NPM], a cantor and an Artist in Residence for the Cathedral of Saint Andrew as a member of the medieval chant trio, Vox Angelica, specializing in the chants of Hildegard von Bingen.
Barbara holds a Master of Music in Voice, with secondary emphasis in Opera from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, with further study at the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria. She received the B.M. in Vocal Performance from Aquinas. She has been a member for over 20 years and this Spring joins the Michigan board of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS). Her current professional study includes: Alexander Technique lessons with Barbara Conable, in Portland, Oregon, and Patricia Gallup, in Grand Rapids, MI; and training for certification in WEM - What Every Musician (Singer) Needs to Know About the Body with Andover Educators.

Larry Barton has degrees in Liturgical Music (B.M.) and Communication Arts (B.A.) from Aquinas College, Grand Rapids. In addition to serving as the Director of Music Ministries for St. Mary's Church on Grand Rapids' west side, he helps to guide the School of Cantor Training, is a board member of NPM's Grand Rapids chapter and an active teacher, musician and liturgist in the Diocese of Grand Rapids. Larry's dedication to mentoring and youth ministry finds expression as a volunteer for DYMO Ministries.
